Lake County’s 911 Emergency Dispatch Task Force will review the county's 911 Consolidation Feasibility study at its next meeting at 3 p.m today at the Holiday Inn Gurnee Convention Center, 6161 W. Grand Avenue.
Along with a discussion of the study, the chairman will present remarks, and the public will be given the opportunity to comment on any issue not already on the agenda.
Participants will discuss old and new business; introductions will be offered, followed by a presentation on 911 opportunities for consolidation and conversation about future meetings.
The board will discuss issues and take questions from the public on agenda items prior to staff reports.
The Lake County 911 Emergency Dispatch Task Force, created relatively recently, is designed to respond to local emergencies, in part by consolidating fire, police, municipal and other public safety personnel from around the county. Formed in response to state law mandates, the changes are expected to cut costs while improving safety for county citizens.
The Lake County 911 Communications Center is located in Libertyville. The Communications Division can share and transfer information on local and national levels via computer networks, including LEADS (Law Enforcement Automated Data System) and NCIC (National Crime Information Center).
