The Wadsworth village board approved an ordinance to establish rules for selling vehicles on private residential property Feb. 16.
The new ordinance establishes that a residential lot that contains a home can sell two vehicles per year. The vehicle must be registered to that specific lot and must be parked on a paved surface. There is no permit from the village required to make these types of sales.
The new ordinance will be located under the rules dealing with garage sales, but it won't affect the rules for garage sales. The rules were based, in part, on those used by Beach Park.
The council spent considerable time discussing this ordinance. Initially, Trustees Ben Dolan, Robert Hayden and James Zegar voted aye, Trustee Tyler Crittenden voted nay and Trustees Ken Harvey and Geralyn Hansen abstained. However, after more discussion about whether the ordinance passed with this vote, Harvey changed his vote to aye.
The board also discussed the possibility of purchasing the village of Beach Park's old loader for $22,500. The board authorized the village administrator to make the purchase as long as the loader passes an inspection from a qualified mechanic.
