Highland Park invites Sumac storm sewer bids through April 7

Highlandpk seal

Highland Park is soliciting proposals for its Sumac storm sewer project until 11 a.m. April 7 for a non-refundable fee of $25 per bid.

Bid packages can be obtained at the Public Works Department located at 1150 Half Day Road in Highland Park; the city reserves the right to accept or reject any number of bids.

Named for its location along Sumac Road between Old Briar and Ridgelee roads, the construction project will involve a new mainline storm sewer comprised of 30-inch and 24-inch diameter pipes, plus 12-inch lateral pipes.

The work will involve reconnecting existing service lines, removing and replacing pavement over a 4-inch aggregate base, installing a new concrete curb and gutter and reconstructing pavement on Ridgelee Road to match that of Sumac Road. Landscaped areas impacted by the work will receive restoration work with sod.

Prospective bidders are required to furnish copies of eligibility certificates from the Illinois DOT as well as paperwork proving insurance coverage and payroll documentation along with appropriate fees.

All bidders are advised to study the bid package thoroughly and ask questions regarding any items needing explanation.

Queries can be addressed to Emmanuel Gomez, city engineer, at 847-926-1145 or Lisa Roberts, contract specialist, at 847-926-1189.
