Former Wauconda High School pitcher Kevin Malisheski signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers last week.
Malisheski was a three-sport varsity star at Wauconda, playing baseball, football and basketball.
After recovering from an ACL and Meniscus tear suffered while playing for Wauconda's football team last fall, Malisheski had been pitching for the Bloomington Bobcats collegiate team and the local Athletic Barn team before verbally agreeing to play for Illinois State University.
The Dodgers selected him in the 38th round of the amateur draft in June, and last week he accepted the team's offer of a $265,000 signing bonus and another $120,000 set aside for college.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right hander is expected to get his start in Arizona's instructional league this week.
