With a brightly printed banner waving on his behalf, Benjamin Salzberg, Republican candidate for the District 29 state Senate seat, greeted parade-goers at a recent celebration, inviting constituents to join him in fixing the “status quo.”

"Thank you all for coming out today and joining me at the Buffalo Grove Labor Day parade!” Salzberg, posting on his Facebook page, said. “Let's stand together in Illinois to make our voices heard. Let's tell everyone the status quo does not work anymore!"

With values highlighting accountability and teamwork, Salzberg previously pinpointed manufacturing, health insurance costs and delays in implementing much-needed reforms as top priorities for Illinois. Concerned for his constituents’ well-being, Salzberg has proven to be an articulate candidate, writing at length about the challenges facing Illinois.

“There is no question that how … we handle our budgetary obligations governs all aspects of our lives,” Salzberg said in the online post. “The same … applies to the management of a state; however, in the case of a state, we must depend on our elected officials to make sound financial decisions for us. Unfortunately, this is far from being the case. For decades, Illinois experienced enormous financial difficulties, and the situation is getting progressively worse….”

Specifically, Salzberg has criticized Illinois Auditor General Frank Mautino over his campaign expenditures, currently under investigation, but praised Gov. Bruce Rauner for making positive changes, such as signing a bill to give former inmates a new lease on life.

Salzberg received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois-Champaign and his master's from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Salzberg also earned a master’s degree in teaching from Chicago’s National Louis University. Salzberg currently is employed at PTD Partners, a Highland Park consulting firm.

“Let's fix Illinois by our actions one person at a time,” Salzberg said on Facebook. “Let’s make a stand in Springfield.”
