Wauconda Natural Resources Committee updated on Bangs Lake water levels

At a recent meeting, the Wauconda Natural Resources Committee was updated by the Bangs Lake Advisory Committee on efforts to monitor the lake's water level and other issues.

Below are the minutes from this meeting, as provided by the committee.

Meeting Minutes May 31, 2016

1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Linda Starkey called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Attendance: Present Absent Trustee Linda Starkey ? Trustee Chuck Black ? Trustee Tim Howe ?

Village Staff Present: Brad Fink, Director of Public Works, Police Chief David Wermes

Others Present: None

2. PUBLIC COMMENT: Chairman Starkey asked if anyone in the audience wanted to

comment on the agenda. There were no comments at this time. Audience members saved comments for the individual agenda items.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 23, 2016 AND MARCH 3, 2016

NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES: The minutes of the February 23, 2016 and March 3, 2016 Natural Resources Committee Meetings were unanimously approved

4. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

Bangs Lake Spring Weed Control Program Development - Update. Director Fink provided an update to the Committee on Clarke's informational meetings that were held at the Park District on March 16" and March 29". The weed control cost share program was introduced to the residents that attended the Clarke informational meeting. The Committee requested staff post information on the program on Village website and social media outlets.

Marine Patrol - Update. Chief Wermes provided an update on the current Marine Patrol and distributed a Marine Unit Status Report. Chief Wermes noted as of May 1 the Marine Unit has performed 233 boat safety inspections. Chief Wermes informed the Committee that he is receiving positive feedback from the boaters on the decision to hire part time sworn officers for the Marine Unit.

Chairman Starkey introduced draft information cards and key fobs containing important safety rules and regulations while boating and fishing in Bangs Lake to be considered for approval. The information was accurate and the Committee unanimously approved the items for printing and circulation.

Bangs Lake Advisory Committee (BLAC) - Update: Director Fink provided the agenda for the BLAC Quarterly Meeting that was held on May 23, 2016. The 11" Annual Kids Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016. The BLAC also continues to monitor the lake level and report its finding to Public Works. Director Fink reported that the BLAC will be discussing the 2016 Bangs Lake cleanup day.

5. NEW BUSINESS: No new business was introduced.

6. ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Howe and seconded by

Trustee Black at 7:55 p.m. Chairman Starkey called for a vote and all members voted in favor, none were opposed.
