College of Lake County men's golf-team member Orlando Ortiz recently earned All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference honors, according to clclancers.com.
Ortiz, a freshman from Warren Township High School, placed fourth in the conference, with a stroke average of 78.5 per nine holes, according to SkywayConference.com. Benjamin Melms of Waubonsee earned the top spot among the league's golfers, with a 75.25 stroke average.
The rest of the top 10 in the conference were Ramir Rogue, Waubonsee, second place, 76 average; Stephen Bukeiski, Oakton, third, 78; Jackson Clark, Waubonsee, fifth, 78.5; Alec Martinez, Moraine Valley, sixth, 79.5; Jacob Cook, Waubonsee, seventh, 79.5; Conner Lillie, Moraine Valley, eighth, 79.75; Anthony Calderone, Oakton, ninth, 81; and Chris Blaha, Oakton, 10th, 81.25.
Waubonsee finished first in the team standings, followed by Oakton, Moraine and Lake County. Waubonsee's Dave Heiss was named the league's Coach of the Year.
