Highwood City Council adds new liquor license for beer and wine production and sampling

Highwood City Council met Tuesday, Jan. 17.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 7:30 P.M.

Call to Order : by Mayor Pecaro at 8:10 P.M.

1. Roll Call

Present: Mayor Pecaro, Aldermen: Grice, Falberg, Fiore, Peterson, Slavin

Absent: Alderman Feddermann

Also Present: City Manager Coren, City Attorney Jablecki, Assistant to City Manager Marquez, Deputy City Clerk Baruffi

2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. Review of Minutes to be Approved

3.1. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the City Council: January 03, 2017 as presented. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

3.2. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the City Committee of the Whole: January 03 , 2017 as presented. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

4. Appointments (Mayor Pecaro)

5. Approval of Warrant List:

5.1. Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the 01/17/2017 AP Warrant List as presented. All present voting aye, motion carried.

Yes: Aldermen: Falberg, Fiore, Peterson, Slavin, Grice

Absent: Alderman Feddermann

7. Mayor’s Report

The water bills were mailed later than the date on the billing, and therefore will be due February 6 th rather than

February 2 nd . The reason for the delay is that apparently, a bulk mailing can only be dropped off at the Post Office Monday – Friday 10:00 – 2:00 for mailing. Therefore, when the City went to the Post Office we were turned away for mailing the water bills in time.

12.1. A Presentation by BKD, LLP on the Audit of the City’s Finances for the Fiscal Year Ending April 30, 2016.

The audit will be online for review.

12.2. 17-O-3 Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Fiore to waive the first reading and approve An ordinance adding 4-1-7: L ‘Class L License: Beer & Wine Production and Sampling License.” All present voting aye, motion carried.

Vote:

Yes: Aldermen: Falberg, Fiore, Peterson, Slavin, Grice

Absent: Alderman Feddermann

12.3. 17-O-4 Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Slavin to waive the first reading and approve An ordinance eliminating the existing Title 8 ‘Public Ways and Property ’ Chapter 3 ‘Pay Telephones Near or On Public Ways’ of the Highwood City Code and replacing it with ‘Sidewalk Snow Removal. ’ Motion carried.

Vote:

Yes: Aldermen: Slavin, Falberg, Grice, Fiore

No: Alderman Peterson

Absent; Alderman Feddermann

The Snow removal would need to be cleaned within 24 hours after the snow has stopped.

12.4. 17-O-5 Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Slavin to waive the first reading and approve an Ordinance Amending 3-2A-1: Fees Established to Increase the Fee for a Residential Inspection to More Accurately Reflect the Cost of the Program to the City of Highwood. Motion carried.

Vote:

Yes: Aldermen: Falberg, Slavin, Grice, Peterson

Abstain: Fiore

Absent: Alderman Feddermann

There are 76 homes that have been identified that were not previously in the rental inspection program.

13. Any Action Necessary Coming Out of Executive Session

14. Adjournment Moved by Alderman Peterson, seconded by Alderman Fiore to adjourn the meeting. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried. Mayor Pecaro adjourned the meeting at 8:15 P.M.
