The Vernon Hills Park District will hold the Mighty Kids Triathlon starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, June 4, at the Lakeview Fitness Center, 700 Lakeview Parkway.
According to the Park District'swebsite, the event is for youth ages 6-12, with swimming, biking and running activities included. Ages 6-7 will swim 25 yards, bike 1 mile and run a half-mile; ages 8-10 will swim 50 yards, bike 2 miles and run 1 mile; and ages 11-12 will swim 50 yards, bike 2 miles and run 1 mile. The swimming events will be held at the Lakeview Pool, and the biking and running events will take place at Deerpath Park.
The top finishers in each group will receive trophies. All competitors will get T-shirts, medals, refreshments and other items.
