The price of local government: Village of Tower Lakes

The Village of Tower Lakes budget was $3.91 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $8,910.48 per household.

That's a decrease of one percent from 2014, when the village spent $3.95 million, or $8,997.84 per household.

Tower Lakes has 439 households and a population of 1,283.

Since 2001, the Village of Tower Lakes budget has grown by 71.1 percent, from $2.29 million. The village population has fallen 2.1 percent over the same period, from 1,310.

Salaries accounted for 5.9 percent of village spending in 2015. Tower Lakes property taxpayers paid $231,297.24 for 21 part-time employees, or an average of $11,014.15 each, before their health care benefits and taxpayer-funded pension contributions.
