The price of local government: Village of Winthrop Harbor

The village of Winthrop Harbor budget was $7.50 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $2,999.36 per household.

That's an increase of 10 percent from 2014 when the village spent $6.82 million, or $2,726.57 per household.

Winthrop Harbor has 2,500 households and a population of 6,700.

Since 2001, the village of Winthrop Harbor budget has grown by 23 percent, from $6.10 million. The village population has fallen 6.9 percent over the same period, from 7,200.
