Mundelein offers a big thanks to Vietnam War vets

Vietnam War veterans were the guests of honor at a ceremony hosted by the village of Mundelein recently, according to the village's Facebook page.

Mayor Steve Lentz and the village's board of trustees honored numerous local veterans and their families.

“It was our honor and privilege to host this event in your honor," the village posted. "Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped to make this event so special and memorable for our esteemed veterans."

Local businesses donated refreshments or pitched in to help organize the event, with the help of area veterans’ associations. They included Jim McArdle and the Patriots Motorcycle Club, Mary Carmody and the Midwest Veterans Closet, Jesse Oaks of Gages Lake, Mundelein American Legion Post 867, Bernard Voit of Libertyville and Mundelein VFW Post 7191.

VFW Post 8741 donated commemorative lapel pins, DoubleTree Hotel supplied cookies and McDonald's of Mundelein offered coffee.
