Ken Idstein hopes that voters will do their homework about knowing everything there is to know about his record before going to the polls in the general election.
“I have been endorsed by the Daily Herald, Sun-Times and a host of people," Idstein, who is running for the seat held by Rep. Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) in the 62nd District, told the Lake County Gazette. "They know me; they know the district; they know politics; and they know the opponent. They have made me their choice.”
And if that is not enough, Idstein is taking his message of greater fiscal responsibility and more government accountability directly to the people.
Idstein, a home mortgage industry professional from Grayslake, has made the issue of skyrocketing property taxes across the state a central theme of his campaign. He said he is committed to tackling the issue head-on once he arrives in Springfield.
He previously told The Gazette the more people he talks to, the more he grows concerned about the growing number of them lamenting that they will not be able to retire here in Illinois because of all the runaway taxes. He has also regularly referred to a recent Census Bureau survey that found that over a yearlong period beginning in July 2015, more than 5,000 people have fled Lake County as proof of just how real the struggle for many has become.
Idstein is also on record with his beliefs that there needs to be consolidation in government and other reforms enacted in Springfield.
The 62nd House District includes parts of Grayslake, the Round Lake communities, Hainesville, Wauconda and Gurnee.
