Ken Idstein says Illinois is the 'worst-run state in the nation'

Springfield

All the dysfunction now gripping Springfield comes as no great surprise to Ken Idstein.

“Illinois is the worst run state in the nation,” Idstein, running against Rep. Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) in the 62nd District, told the Lake County Gazette. “My opponent has been in office for five-plus years and has had plenty of opportunities to change the status quo by standing up for our families and curtailing (House Speaker Mike) Madigan’s power.”

Idstein argues that has never been Yingling’s agenda, and that he and Madigan have regularly put their own interests ahead of those they have long been entrusted to serve.

“Madigan and my opponent aren’t looking out for our families, they are looking out for their own power and the special interests that keep them in office,”Idstein added.

Idstein hints that his campaign is directly geared for those who have truly had enough of all the politics in Springfield and fully realize just how dramatically things have to change for the state to have any real chance of putting itself back on the right track.

“Will Sam Yingling continue to stand in silence and accept the status quo in Springfield,” he said. “I am running to save your home and your future by changing the policies that have been coming out of Springfield for 30- years.”

Idstein said all his campaigning over the last several months has left him of the opinion that Illinois voters are ready to be the change that they seek.

“Mike Madigan needs to go,” he said. “I am calling on my opponent to make his intentions clear. I’m calling on my opponent to make a pledge not to vote for Mike Madigan for Speaker, and to refuse to take any money from him.”

The 62nd House District includes parts of Grayslake, the Round Lake communities, Hainesville, Wauconda and Gurnee.
