City of North Chicago issued the following announcement on May 4.
On Monday, May 7, 2018 the City of North Chicago will present a Citizen Life Saving Award to Chris Monroe for extraordinary actions that led to a life being saved. The child is being recognized for flagging down a North Chicago patrol officer after noticing a passenger in a nearby car was in medical distress. “In this instance, Chris’ quick action led to the victim receiving prompt medical attention,” said Police Chief Perez. “Time is critical during a medical emergency and having by-standers get involved can make a huge difference in the outcome.”
