Adlai E Stevenson High School District 125 issued the following announcement on May 21.
A 1999 Stevenson alumna and educator who died of breast cancer last year will be honored with a fundraising walk on Sunday, June 3. The parent-teacher organization at Kipling Elementary School in Deerfield will honor Meghan Trauten Bolon with the “Miles for Meghan” walk from 9:30-11 a.m. Sunday, June 3 at the school, 700 Kipling Place, in Deerfield. Bolon taught at Kipling until her death in December 2017.
The goal of “Miles for Meghan” is to create the Meghan Bolon Outdoor Learning Center, a multi-purpose, multi-sensory space where students and teachers can learn and connect in a calm, serene, and natural setting. The center will be created in an unused outdoor courtyard at the school. In addition, the school hallway leading to the courtyard will be renamed Bolon Boulevard.
Walk organizers hope to raise $75,000. The suggested donation for participating in the walk is $10 per person or $25 per family. Visit this website to make a donation.
