Fremont School District 79 students suspended 33 times in a single school year

Fremont School District 79 reported 33 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 33 students during the year. That equates to 1.5 percent of the 2,179 students enrolled.

Of the 14 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 14 incidents. For 11 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 19 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.
