Gurnee State House candidate Joyce Mason received another $131,553 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Sept. 6 and Sept. 30, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Joyce Mason, the campaign committee that supports Mason’s race against Republican Sheri Jesiel in the 61th district.
The district covers all or part of Antioch, Lake Villa, Winthrop Harbor, Zion, Lindenhurst, Old Mill Creek, Wadsworth, Beach Park, Waukegan, Grandwood Park, Gurnee, Gages Lake and Grayslake.
Madigan’s contributions to Mason came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $337,704 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Sept. 6 to Sept. 30, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 11 candidates and more than $40,000 on 19.
