Retired Hawthorn CCSD 73 employee Anne Hoenes saved $16,509 toward her pension over 8 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 33 years of retirement, Hoenes would collect as much as $924,000, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.
Hoenes, 62, who currently lives in Centerville, OH, earned $13,922 in her final year at Hawthorn CCSD 73.
The projection assumes Hoenes will receive $15,628 in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Hoenes will have already received $48,306 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 52.4 percent of Hawthorn CCSD 73 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams.
