Retired Adlai Stevenson HSD 125 employee Denise Foster saved $252,571 toward her pension over 38 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 38 years of retirement, Foster would collect as much as $8.539 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.
Foster, 57, who currently lives in Mundelein, earned $596 in her final year at Adlai Stevenson HSD 125.
The projection assumes Foster will receive $116,619 in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Foster will have already received $360,458 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
ISBE reported that 88 percent of Adlai Stevenson HSD 125 graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
