With less than a week left before voters go to the polls, Gurnee state House candidate Joyce Mason received another $183,956 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Oct. 18 and Oct. 26, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Joyce Mason, the campaign committee that supports Mason’s race against Republican Sheri Jesiel in the 61st House District.
The district covers all or part of Antioch, Lake Villa, Winthrop Harbor, Zion, Lindenhurst, Old Mill Creek, Wadsworth, Beach Park, Waukegan, Grandwood Park, Gurnee, Gages Lake and Grayslake.

Madigan’s contributions to Mason came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $737,113 to the candidate’s campaign this election cycle.
Madigan spent $6.5 million on 24 candidates between Oct 18 and Oct 30, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections. He has spent $15.84 million backing campaigns for 25 candidates this election cycle, thus far.
