Lake Forest freshmen women’s hockey star Olyvia Opsahl has been named Forester Athlete of the Week, the school announced on its website Dec. 13.
The 5-foot-7 defender was instrumental in the Foresters 7-0 whitewashing of visiting Aurora University on Dec. 7, registering three assists and being on the ice for all six of their first goals.
In matching her season-long assists production, Opsahl was in the mix on an Amy Budde power-play goal in the opening period and a score by junior Lexi Morgan off the face-off to open the second stanza.
According to the school’s website, Opsahl is now the team’s co-leader is assists, and she ranks tied for fourth for the Foresters with a +6 plus/minus rating.
A graduate of Hermantown High in Duluth, Minnesota, Opsahl is majoring in business and accounting at Lake Forest.
Forester Athlete of the Week picks are announced each Thursday following voting by the school’s athletic department.
