Grant Community High School District 124 recently issued the following announcement.
The Grant Community High School January Student of the Month is senior Joseph Gorden, son of Jeff and Connie Gorden of Ingleside.
Joseph was inducted into the National Honor Society during his sophomore year. He has taken several Honors and AP classes and consistently earns his place on Honor Roll each semester. He has been named Scholar Athlete for baseball and basketball each year, while holding an amazing 4.603 GPA.
His extracurricular activities include baseball and basketball and he assists his peers as a Big Dawg Mentor. He participates in St. Baldrick’s Day and he has enjoyed being a coach for the Powder Puff Football game.
Joseph’s community involvement includes volunteering at the DuPage County Food Pantry, Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, and at the Camp Duncan 5K and Mayor’s Challenge 5K for Breast Cancer. He has assisted numerous times at Grant with the 8th Grade Enrollment Nights, Graduation, and Book Check-out.
In addition to all of his activities, Joseph has been a Superfan Leader during football season. He also enjoys everything to do with water such as all watersports, boating, and wakeboarding.
His plans for the future include earning a degree in Mathematics and a minor in coaching. He will attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and tryout for their baseball team. His goal is to become a math teacher and coach at the high school level.
