Former state university employee Stauder paid in $36K to pension fund, could collect $621K in retirement

Former state university employee Leroy Stauder, who retired in June 2018, saved $36,128 toward a pension over 14 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Stauder would collect as much as $620,744, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.

The projection assumes Stauder received $13,047 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Stauder will have already received $40,326 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
