Aptakisic Tripp Community Consolidated School District 102 issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.
D102 celebrates its diverse community and finds ways to foster a sense of belonging among families.
Ten students volunteered to be multilingual student ambassadors for occasions such as our recent open house events. Families attending one of our school open houses had the opportunity to meet and build connections with our veteran multilingual students.
“We value these students’ experiences and mastery of multiple languages,” shares Mrs. Sostak, Bilingual Program Director, who is shown meeting with students prior to Pritchett’s Open House. “Our students are using their skills for a real purpose,” continues Mrs. Sostak. “Having the opportunity for families to visit with students who speak their home language complements the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere of our district.” Collectively, these ten students speak Bengali, Bosnian, English, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, and Ukrainian.
