Illinois State House District 60 issued the following announcement on Jan. 19
Today, we had our free community health fair. In parternship with Mano a Mano and Rosalind Franklin, residents enjoyed free flu vaccinations, blood pressure test, cholesterol level check and blood sugar test.
Rosalind Franklin brought a large team comprised of doctors and medical students who provided the medical services. Assisting was staff from Mano a Mano and the office of State Representative Rita Mayfield.
"I am very impressed by the high skill level and enthusiasm of the Rosalind Franklin staff. The students are sharp, eager and very professional," said Mayfield. "Equally so is the team of Mano a Mano. They are a vital community organization. It's a pleasure to work with them both. It is also a true honor to serve our community."
A steady stream of community residents came to the event starting as the doors opened at 9:00am. The cold weather did not deter people from coming out.
"Access to health care is one of the most fundamental needs of people. I am committed to helping the people of our community access health care both through efforts such as this one and pursuing legislation that makes health care accessible," said Mayfield.
