Antioch Community Consolidated School District 34 recently issued the following announcement.
Given the rapidly evolving global pandemic and ever-changing reality facing our communities, we believe it is very important to reach out and provide a D34 update. First and foremost, we want you to know that we deeply care about you and are here for you. If there is something that you or your family need, please reach out and let us know…let us help.
This afternoon, Governor J.B. Pritzker issued a “Stay-at-Home Order” that will begin at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, March 21, 2020 and extend through April 7, 2020. Consequently, we will be making adjustments to our hours and operations. We believe that it is imperative that D34 remain a resource for our students, staff, families, and communities. To that end, we stand ready and prepared to heed the crucial warnings, but also continue some of our most critical services.
Beginning on Monday, March 23, 2020, our D34 buildings will be staffed from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. While they remain closed, if there is a need to access the building for any reason, please contact, via email, the building principal ahead of time. At this point, our return to on-site school will be no earlier than Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Also beginning on Monday, March 23, 2020, food distribution will take place at AUGS between 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., per the D34 Plan. A Google Form was disseminated yesterday and will be sent twice a week, soliciting anyone looking to take advantage of the resource.
As mentioned by the Governor this afternoon, D34 continues to prepare for the launch of eLearning starting on Monday, March 30, 2020. The D34 staff has been incredibly hard at work and aims to provide thoughtful, meaningful, manageable, and accessible learning opportunities to all of its students. While this will be a new adventure for us all, we look forward to getting back in touch with our students and affording them the ability to continue their learning.
Regarding COVID-19, thus far, we have not been made aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in any D34 students or staff. We have and will continue to be in close contact with the Lake County Health Department, to that end. As questions have come up about any sort of exposure or contact, we have referred and deferred to the experts and will continue to follow all guidance we receive. If you or a family member are ill, please contact your physician. Additionally, please heed all warning and precautions in an effort to keep ourselves, our families, and our neighbors healthy.
We know this is a confusing, scary, and uncertain time. As we navigate a path that none of us is familiar with, know that we are going to do this together. We are here for you and we stand ready to serve the D34 community in whatever ways we are called upon. We are committed to being available, transparent, communicative, and honest.
Our realities are fluid and the unknown is all around us right now, but what we do know is that love is an incredibly powerful force. We want, we need, you to know that as a member of our D34 community, you are loved. We are hopeful that we can all stay Rooted in Love in the coming days and weeks.
