As of August 31, there have been 1,332 Lake County residents in their sixties who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to numbers being reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

There have been 25,946 residents in their sixties in the county who had been tested, meaning that five percent of those tested have the coronavirus. Through August 31, there have been 14,594 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 466 deaths from the coronavirus in Lake County.

Illinois gathers all of its COVID-19 data from across the state electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it's transmission.
