Mundelein Elementary School District 75 recently issued the following announcement.
To ensure students have access to books, the D75 Media Centers/ Discovery Den are offering easy book checkout and pickup during remote learning.
“Students need to practice their reading skills and foster their love of reading. Our district has made getting books in the hands of students a priority during this time,” said Jill Unger, assistant principal of Washington and Mechanics Grove schools.
Each school has a library website that families can access to put up to three books on hold. The librarians check the books out to each student and pack them up for material pick-up.
While on the library webpage, students can find book recommendations from their peers and teachers to make the selection process easier. Video tutorials are also available for anyone who needs assistance with placing a book on hold.
“Students are very excited to be able to check out books,” said Rita Washburn, Discovery Den and resource teacher at Mechanics Grove.
While books can only be picked up during material pick-up. Students can return books by either dropping them off in the bin outside the school or returning at the next material pick-up.
Additionally, the Media Centers/ Discovery Den offer SORA, which gives students access to audio and e-books.
