There is a day for everything. But on April 21, it was national Administrative Professionals Day, and a state senator did not miss the chance to thank those staffers who keep his office and others running smoothly.
The day was originally launched as National Secretaries Week in 1952 but decades later was changed to Administrative Professional's Day. The date is meant to recognizing the hard work and contributions of those employees to the national economy and the business community.
"On behalf of the entire Senate Republican Caucus, I want to wish a very happy Administrative Professionals Day," Sen. Dan McConchie (R-Lake Zurich), who is the Senate minority leader, said in a YouTube video posted April 21. "You are the glue that helps keep us together. You are the engine that really helps keep us moving. Thank you so much for all of the work you put in to help us serve our constituents each and every day."
But the Senate minority leader also made sure to provide shout-outs to his staff members. McConchie extended special thanks to his team members Traci Weeders and Deb Ackerson.
"So much of the work you do every day really helps to keep us moving forward," the senator said of the two.
