February 23, 2022
Dear Barrington 220 Community,
Barrington 220 is excited to embark on a strategic planning process called Framework 220, which will define the school district’s future vision and initiatives over the next three to five years.
Framework 220 is designed to engage all district stakeholders – including Board of Education members, parents, district staff members, students, and community members – in developing a shared future vision for Barrington 220. Involvement of stakeholders from every corner of the community will result in a framework for decision-making that builds upon the common values held by the community.
The process will consist of three phases:
- Phase 1: Community Engagement (February 2022 - March 2022)
- This phase includes interviews with district leaders, stakeholder focus groups, and this online community questionnaire
- Phase 2: Learner Profile Development (April 2022)
- This phase will engage a small group of stakeholders in the development of a Learner Profile that articulates the critical skills and competencies we aspire to develop within our students
- Phase 3: Strategic Plan Development (April 2022)
- This phase will engage a large group of stakeholders during a two-day summit where they will focus on the development of a mission, vision and core priorities for the district.
After the development of the Learner Profile, mission, vision, core values and strategic priorities, there will be additional opportunities for community feedback and the process will move into action planning in the identified strategic priorities. A final version of this work will be presented to the Board of Education this summer
Barrington 220’s last strategic plan, “Vision 2020” was a 10 year plan created in 2009, which began as a vision of the year 2020, when the kindergartners of 2008 would enter their graduating year at Barrington High School. Key strategic values that arose from the plan include: global connections, innovative technology, individualized learning, healthy & environmentally sustainable schools, optimal time for learning, and social & emotional learning
The district is working with educational consulting firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA), to conduct the strategic planning process. To learn how you can participate, please click the button below.
