Illinois State Rep. Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) wants to improve the state's education system by ensuring parents know and have a say in what's being taught to their children and seeing that more funding goes to the classrooms instead of towards school administration.

Bos took to social media where he asked constituents to express their opinion on some of the ideas backed by Republican lawmakers and encouraged them to take a survey.

"We are working to promote education transparency to ensure parents are informed and have a choice, funding is going to the classroom - where it belongs - instead of bloated bureaucracy, and every child in Illinois receives a quality education," Bos wrote in a June 21 Facebook post.

Republicans across the country have been pushing for more parental rights when it comes to education, leading to several bills that would create more transparency and grant parents more power to make educational decisions, according to Future Ed. Just in this year alone, legislators in 26 states have introduced some form of a parental rights bill. So far, similar legislation in Georgia, Florida, Arizona, and Louisiana have become law with Kansas expected to do the same.

Future Ed reported the move came after schools started teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT) and divisive racial concepts.

Britannica defines Critical Race Theory as an intellectual framework and social movement based on the idea that race is not biological, but socially constructed. The encyclopedia added that under CRT beliefs, race was formed in order to oppress and exploit people who aren't caucasian. Critical Race Theorists believe that laws in America are racist and intended to maintain white supremacy.
