Buffalo Grove Pride is holding an event where it is encouraging those as young as 5 years old to “come out” and announce their sexuality.

The event will feature a drag show. It is being held consistent with National Coming Out Day on Oct. 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton in Mundelein.

“Buffalo Grove, Illinois pride is holding a ‘coming out day’ party featuring drag performances for kids as young as 5,” Libs of TikTok posted on Twitter.

The event features several other family-friendly activities including a dance, Twister, art projects, a “Rainbow Raffle,” art sale, a rainbow balloon display and a table where literature on alternative sexuality will be available.

Tickets are $25 for children 5-11 and $50 for those 12 and older.

The event is one of many that have popped up in recent weeks and months.

Conservative activists condemned “family-friendly” drag shows held at UpRising Bakery and Cafe in Lake in the Hills earlier this year.

“Kid-friendly drag show is right up there with kid-friendly strip club, kid-friendly porn and kid-friendly cigarette — it’s self-evident that all of this is harmful to children unless you’ve been brainwashed to believe that kids should be sexualized,” Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, told the McHenry Times.

Lake in the Hills cited the bakery for zoning violations following the drag shows.

An August march organized by Awake Illinois was sparked by the increase in similar concerts.

The group has launched a "call to action" campaign to draw attention to drag shows being held in and supported by public institutions, like libraries, DuPage Policy Journal reported.

Darren Bailey, a GOP candidate for governor, has also spoken out against what he calls the “sexualization of our kids,” according to West Cook News.
