Houston Texans Coach Honors Mother and Cancer Center at “My Cause My Cleats” Game

On Sunday, December 2, professional football players and coaches wore customized cleats in honor of the causes they support during the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” week. For Houston Texans Nickels Coach Ilir Emini, the choice of which organization to honor was a no-brainer.

“My mom was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2018,” said Ilir. “She is alive today because of the care she has received at Northwestern Medicine LivingWell Cancer Resource Center throughout her treatment. It means everything to me to be able to represent such a life-changing organization on my shoes.”

LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, located in Geneva and Warrenville, provides support services to patients with cancer and their families at no cost.

“My heart could not be more grateful to Northwestern Medicine, LivingWell, the Texans and my son for helping get the message out on non-Hodgkin's lymphoma awareness,” said Lumie Emini. “It’s the friends we meet along life's path who help us and a huge thank you to God for carrying me through all the hard times and never leaving me.”
