Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart recently announced the addition of Matt Horgan to her staff as Athletics Operations and Facilities Assistant.

Horgan comes to Lake Forest after nearly two years as an event manager and then senior event manager at All Community Events, an organization in Lake Zurich, Illinois, that plans and conducts running events in the Chicagoland area and across the country. He was responsible for all logistics of events, including rentals, ordering, contractors, insurance, staffing, and more.

Horgan's experience also includes two stints working in college athletic departments. As a graduate student at Eastern Illinois University, he served for almost two years as the director of basketball operations, assisting the coaches in every aspect of operating the school's NCAA Division I men's basketball team. He also spent two years at the University of Chicago, where he was first an assistant athletic facilities manager and then an equipment manager.

Horgan graduated from Eastern Illinois with a bachelor's degree in sports management. He later added a master's degree in sports administration.

In his role with the Foresters, Horgan will assist with the day-to-day athletic facilities, operations, and event management responsibilities. He will also help manage equipment, laundry, and locker rooms for the College's intercollegiate athletic teams; oversee and direct the College's intramural program; and provide membership and customer service support for the Lake Forest College community recreation program.

"I am excited to welcome Matt to the Forester family," stated Pieart. "It was evident during the search process that Matt's previous experience, coupled with this passion for working in collegiate athletics, make him a fantastic fit for this position. I am confident that he will hit the ground running and make immediate contributions to the department."

"I want to thank Nicki and the entire Forester staff for welcoming me to Lake Forest College," began Horgan. "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to join the department and I look forward to working with everyone here!"

His first day at the College was Monday, December 5.
