The Shields Township GOP organized a firearms safety seminar in Lake Forest.
According to a flyer released by the Shields Township GOP, the event aimed to promote legal firearm ownership, use, and education.

The seminar took place on Wednesday, June 14, and featured various activities at Northshore Sports Club located at 28395 Ballard Dr. in Lake Forest.

The evening began with open-range target shooting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at 7 p.m. The seminar covered essential topics such as firearm handling, shooting techniques, proper cleaning methods, and safe storage practices.

It also provided information on firearm laws, including the importance of possessing a FOID card, obtaining a concealed carry license, and guidelines for handling firearm theft situations. The seminar aimed to foster responsible firearm ownership and education, welcoming all attendees while requesting a $25 fee to cover costs.

The Shields Township GOP's events page conveyed its belief in the significance of safe and responsible firearm usage, regardless of one's stance on constitutional rights or gun control.

In its mission statement the Shields Township GOP notes it aims to inspire civic participation and support Republican candidates who share their principles.

“We envision a Shields Township where citizens have their voices heard, show fiscal responsibility, believe in individual liberty, and support a local limited government,” Shields Township GOP said on its website.

Its web site said the organization prioritize truth, constructive engagement, and civility, while also working collaboratively with the community to strengthen Shields Township. It said it emphasizes the importance of transparent, ethical, and honest actions from both themselves and elected officials in service to the community.
