City of Highwood City Council met May 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council: 

CALL TO ORDER by Mayor Pecaro at 7:37 P.M.

1. Roll Call 

Present: Aldermen Levi, Slavin, Fiore, Peterson and Hospodarsky

Absent: Alderman Falberg

Also Present: City Manager Coren, City Attorney Jablecki, Assistant City Manager Martin and Administrative Assistant Litjens

2. Pledge of Allegiance 

All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Newly Elected Officials – Oath of Office 

3.1. Alderman – Andy Peterson – 4 Year Term

3.2. Alderman – Michael Fiore – 4 Year Term

3.3. Alderman – M. Brad Slavin – 4 Year Term

All newly Elected Officials took their Oath of Office with Judge James Simonian.

4. Review of Minutes to be Ap proved 

4.1. Moved by Alderman Slavin and seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the minutes for City Council: May 02, 2023. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

4.2. Moved by Alderman Peterson and seconded by Alderman Levi to approve the minutes for Committee of the Whole: May 02, 2023. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

5. Appointments 

6. Approval of Warrant List: 

6.1. Moved by Alderman Peterson and seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the 05/16/2023 AP Warrant List for payment. All present voting aye, by roll call vote, motion carried.

13. New Business

12.1. Moved by Alderman Slavin and seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve a Resolution Approving an ARC Application for an Outdoor Seating Area to Include Three Gazebos and Nine Planters for Isaac & Moishe, Located at 311 Waukegan Avenue. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

12.2. Moved by Alderman Peterson and seconded by Alderman Slavin to waive first reading and approve an Ordinance Amending 4-1-7: Classification of Licenses in the Highwood City Code to Create an Additional Class A Liquor License. All present voting aye, by roll call vote, motion carried.

12.3. Moved by Alderman Fiore and seconded by Alderman Hospodarsky to approve a Motion Directing the City Manager to Sign a Reimbursement Agreement with Pablo Astudillo for Sewer Work at 433 Funston Avenue. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.
