Jake Weisser, a former Lake Forest resident and caucus committee member, said one of his reasons for moving to Florida was to ensure quality education for his children. He referenced the impact of Covid on educational achievements and the recent findings of a faculty member at local Deer Path Middle school who was terminated after having an inappropriate relationship with a student at a different school.
“For me, sending my children into middle school, I mean obviously we've seen very recently, there's an issue with a faculty member at DPM,” Weisser told hosts Pete Jansons and Joe Weiss on the Lake Forest podcast. “That's been on my radar for a long time that hey, there's certain people within our schools who maybe shouldn't be there, shouldn't be around children. I don't think that the vetting process is really structured in a way to get rid of bad teachers or bad faculty members or bad staff.”
“I fall very far on the right in terms of my political affiliation, I'm not afraid to admit it, I think that some of the woke nonsense that's creeping into schools I think that it has a negative effect on our community,” Weisser said. “I don't think it really brings out the best in who we are, I think it really just serves as a way to divide people and make them resentful.”
