Jim Carris marked Easter with a post wishing the residents of his district a joyful celebration. Carris is set to face Democrat Brad Schneider in the forthcoming general election.

"Wishing the residents of Illinois' 10th Congressional District a very Happy Easter," said Carris, nominee, according to Facebook. "May your Easter baskets be filled with joy, happiness, and peace this season and always."

According to Catholic Straight Answers, Easter, which falls on March 31 this year, is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday following the full moon after the spring equinox. This dating system traces its roots back to the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D., allowing for the holiday to occur anytime between March 22 and April 25. It should be noted that Orthodox churches adhere to their own dating system and may celebrate Easter one, four or five weeks later.

Britannica.com states that the earliest recorded celebration of Easter dates back to the second century.

Carris, who has a significant presence in the local business community and has been a longtime resident of Lake County, places emphasis on his extensive business background rather than political experience. "Jim has spent his life in business, not politics, practicing law, running his own company and as a corporate leader," reads his campaign website.

Currently serving as Managing Principal, Executive Managing Director, and Market Leader at Colliers International, Carris is an accomplished attorney. He is also a child of an immigrant; his father's pursuit of a better life led him to leave Greece behind.

Carris funded his own education by taking up various jobs. His employment history ranges from painting houses and working in construction to washing dishes and bartending - testament to a work ethic that has remained a driving force throughout his life.

The 10th District, currently under incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider's jurisdiction, encompasses several municipalities across Lake County including Antioch, Fox Lake, Lake Villa among others; communities such as Winnetka, Glencoe in Cook County; and municipalities like Spring Grove and Richmond in McHenry County.
