Illinois 10th Congressional Candidate Jim Carris stated that while he and Congressman Brad Schneider disagree on many issues, they concur that "there is no place for this type of behavior" in relation to an incident near Schneider's home. He made the statement in a June 28 Facebook post.

"Earlier today, the city of Highland Park issued a community advisory involving an incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning where 'protestors carried banners and shouted pro-Palestinian and antisemitic chants using loudspeakers and drums' in the vicinity of Congressman Brad Schndeider's home," said Carris, according to Facebook. "I stand with Brad Schneider, his family, and all neighbors of Highland Park and the 10th District who value peace and tranquility in our communities. It is simply appalling that Congressman Schneider and his family would have demonstrators approach their home at 3 o'clock in the morning on any day, let alone on the Jewish Sabbath. While Congressman Schneider and I disagree on many issues, we both agree that there is no place for this type of behavior from any organization at any time when opportunities exist for constructive dialogue."

The incident referred to by Carris occurred in the early hours of June 28, when overnight demonstrations by pro-Palestine protestors in Highland Park, near Congressman Brad Schneider’s home, led neighbors to file noise complaints and caused unrest in the neighborhood. According to CBS News2, calls began around 2:30 a.m., with the Highland Park police department receiving approximately 30 noise complaints near Woodland Road. Officers observed around 40 protestors carrying banners and shouting, using loudspeakers and drums on the sidewalk in the vicinity of Woodland Road. By 3:15 a.m., police reported that protestors had left, although neighbors have video evidence timestamped at 3:18 a.m. showing protestors still present.

NBC5 Chicago also reported on the incident, noting that Schneider is a prominent Jewish Democrat. In their June 29 report, NBC5 stated that Highland Park police have increased patrols in the neighborhood following the incident.

The 10th District is currently held by incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider. It encompasses several municipalities including Antioch, Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Grayslake, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Waukegan, Highland Park, North Chicago, Park City, Lake Forest, Gurnee, Zion, Libertyville, Round Lake Beach in Lake County; Winnetka, Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northbrook and Wheeling in Cook County; and Spring Grove, Richmond, Hebron, Wonder Lake and Johnsburg in McHenry County.

Carris is a prominent figure in the local business community and a longtime resident of Lake County. His campaign website emphasizes his extensive background in business rather than politics. "Jim has spent his life in business," his campaign website reads.

Carris currently serves as Managing Principal, Executive Managing Director and Market Leader at Colliers International. He financed his own education through various jobs such as painting houses and working in construction to washing dishes and bartending.
