The chairman of the Lake County Republican Party said the party is laying the groundwork for the 2026 elections while Democrats focus on “their far-left social agenda.”

“Our biggest priorities as we enter 2025 are to help get conservatives elected in the local elections in April, while laying the groundwork for victory in 2026 by strengthening our township organizations and recruiting Republican candidates for 2026 who will help lower the cost of living for working families in Lake County,” Brin told Lake County Gazette.

Brin has been party chairman since 2022, having previously served as the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Lake County from 2012 to 2016.

He said the 2024 elections showed that “voters are looking for leaders who will address the kitchen table issues that matter to their families.”

“Republicans are talking about these issues while out-of-touch Democrats continue to focus on their far left social agenda of supporting criminals over victims, spending tax dollars on non-citizens over investing in our lower income communities, and telling parents how to raise their children,” said Brin.

While U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump (R) won re-election to the White House over Vice President Kamala Harris, Harris won the majority in Lake County with 59.69% of the vote, compared to Trump's 38.92%, according to Lake County election results.

In Illinois, Harris won with 54.8% of the vote, compared to Trump's 43.8%, according to unofficial results reported by Associated Press.

What is the Lake County GOP’s biggest challenge heading into 2025?

“With Pritzker's billions and Democrats having drawn the most gerrymandered districts in the country, the deck is stacked against us right now,” said Brin. “But 2024 showed us there is hope for victory in spite of these challenges.”

Brin is a partner at Finkel, Martwick & Colson, PC, where he practices law with a focus on corporate, litigation, and taxation matters. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Public Health from Emory University and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law. He has been involved in civic organizations, including the USO, Make-A-Wish Illinois, and Honor Flight Chicago.
