The leadership team of Beach Park District 3 attended the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Conference in early December, aiming to pave the way for earning the Blue Schools of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Education.

The district strategically sent building principals, instructional coaches, two board members, the Director of Teaching and Learning, and District Superintendent Dr. Denise Wilcox to gain insights into achieving Blue Ribbon Status and learn from other districts that have undergone this process.

In a statement released on January 24, 2025, Dr. Wilcox said: "Our District is proactively working to improve educational outcomes and seek recognition for its commitment to ALL of OUR students' success. "

The conference provided valuable insights:

- Strategies for achieving Blue Ribbon Status

- Keynote speakers discussed involving the learning community in creating a supportive climate and culture

- Recognition that many effective practices are already in place within the district

As a result, a phased plan for implementation began taking shape so that an evaluation application can be submitted for the award.

Dr. Wilcox emphasized her vision: "Prepare students for current and future challenges through programming, collaboration with other districts, and planning. "

Future planning will incorporate input from community members via the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee focusing on developing an optimal climate within schools as well as generating a comprehensive roadmap aligned with District Strategic Priority Areas.

"We BELIEVE all of our schools can be awarded the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award," said Dr. Wilcox expressing confidence rooted in their theme this year - 'Believe'.
