The Coalers secured the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Regional title in wrestling, amassing 313.5 points on Saturday. This victory ensures their place in the team sectional and sends 14 individual wrestlers to compete for a spot in the state final.
Coal City produced ten regional champions: Owen Peterson, Culan Lindemuth, Cooper Morris, Luke Munsterman, Brody Widlowski, Aidan Kenney, Mason Garner, Brock Finch, Landin Benson, and John Keigher. Cade Poyner secured second place while Alec Waliczek took third. Other notable finishers included Jason Piatak and Noah Houston.
The individual sectional tournament will be hosted by Coal City starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14., continuing with two sessions on Saturday, Feb. 15., at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Tickets are required for each session attended; no passes will be accepted. According to IHSA regulations, tickets cost $8 per session in advance or $9 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased by scanning the QR code in the attached graphic or visiting gofan.co.
