The Coal City Tennis teams expressed gratitude to supporters of the first Annual Staff vs. Student Paddle Battle pickleball tournament held on February 11.

“We had a fantastic night of competitive fun, and everyone’s generosity made the event a resounding success. We are thrilled to announce that we raised almost $600,” said Matt Leman, tennis coach and event organizer. Proceeds from the Paddle Battle will support Coal City’s North Park pickleball project, sponsored by the Coal City Tennis Association.

Congratulations were extended to all players, especially student champions Dom Chellino and Melody Leman, who climbed to the top after an initial round loss. The dominant duo of Mr. Unger and Mr. Leman remained undefeated and will hold their title until next year’s tournament.

“Thanks again to everyone for making this event so memorable. We look forward to seeing you all at next year’s tournament,” Leman added.
