Lake Forest Schools announced that on March 17, Lake Forest High School students debuted a musical piece inspired by a young child's story, honoring the Sheridan family during their spring concert. The announcement was made in a press release.
According to Lake Forest Schools, at their spring concert, the choir performed "Where Do the Colors Go?", a song inspired by a book written by Sheridan Elementary kindergartener Lily Odlaug about her sister Anna, who has Dravet Syndrome. This project was made possible through strong connections to the Lake Forest community, with Lily and Anna’s mother, Kim Odlaug, and composer David Hamilton, both LFHS alumni, contributing to the transformation of Lily’s story into music. The effort was supported by the Sing Me a Story Foundation co-founded by another LFHS graduate.
Sing Me a Story allows children in need to create stories that are turned into songs by musicians. The organization aims to amplify children's voices through music, raise awareness for nonprofits, and provide families with a healing experience. It seeks to remind people of commonalities shared regardless of circumstances.
