Union High School announces state testing schedule and upcoming events

Union High School has announced its schedule for upcoming state testing and other events in April.

From April 15-17, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will participate in state testing. On Tuesday, April 15, juniors will take the online version of the ACT. Students are advised to bring their charged Chromebooks, calculators, and pencils. Testing begins at 8 a.m. , with dismissal at 1 p.m. A grab-and-go lunch will be available.

On Wednesday, April 16, sophomores will take the online Pre-ACT test under similar conditions but with dismissal at noon.

Freshmen are scheduled for Thursday, April 17, following the same protocol as sophomores.

Students will not attend school on days they are not testing. Late arrivals will not be admitted to the test.

Prom is set for May 3 from 7-10 p.m. at the Bend XPO in East Moline. Sign-up for prom court is open from Tuesday, April 8 through Thursday, April 10 during all lunch periods. Seniors interested in running for prom court should see Ellen in the student store to sign up.

In celebration of World Health Day on April 7 and promoting well-being throughout the month, H.O.P.E. Club invites students to participate in "Active for April" events:

- Walking group every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:00 p.m., meeting in the Guidance Office

- Yoga session on Wednesday, April 23 from 3:15-4:00 p.m. in the Wrestling Room

- Panther Pant run on Wednesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m.

Participants can track their activity using a QR code provided in this month's Toilet Times newsletter for a chance to win a Spring Gift Card Bouquet.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will hold its second meeting of the fourth quarter on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:20 a.m. in the Girls' Gym. Landon will present a lesson on avoiding being a lukewarm Christian. Snacks will be provided.

New scholarships are available for seniors including one from Foster's Voice. Details can be found on the counseling Google Classroom or by visiting the counseling office.
