GCSD9 students win clean air bookmark contest

Granite City Community Unit School District #9 announced that two of its students have been recognized by the Madison County Green Schools Programs as winners of the 2025 Clean Air Bookmark Contest.

Jace Boyer, a first-grader, and Lauren Wilson, a seventh-grader, were honored for their contributions to promoting clean air awareness through their bookmark designs.

In the Grades K-2 category titled "Show You Care About the Air! -- Show how you care about clean air on your bookmark design," Jace Boyer secured first place among 246 entries from 11 schools.

In the Grades 6-8 category titled "Be Part of the Solution to Air Pollution! - - Show how to help solve the problem of air pollution," Lauren Wilson secured first place among 178 entries from seven schools.

Both students will receive a certificate, a Kindle Paperwhite, and a gift card. Their winning bookmark designs will be printed with their names and schools for distribution within their respective schools. Additionally, they will be recognized at the May 13 GCSD9 School Board Meeting.
