Rotary honors Granite City students for April

The Rotary Club of Granite City recognized juniors Sophie Davison and Cate Smallie as Students of the Month for April. The students were nominated by teachers and selected based on academics, as well as scholastic, extracurricular, and civic honors and awards, along with organization membership and leadership.

Each honoree will receive a framed certificate and a gift card.

Sophie Davison is a member of the girls basketball and golf teams. She participates in the Secondary Honors program and has received an Academic Award. Davison is also involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Photography Club, Renaissance Club, Spirit Club, and Varsity Club. She volunteers at her church and Relleke Farms. She is the daughter of Corby and Gina Davison.

Cate Smallie serves as a member of the girls tennis and swimming teams and is the GCHS Yearbook Editor. She participates in the Secondary Honors program too. Smallie is part of both Renaissance Club and Varsity Club while also volunteering at Old Six Mile Museum and Paddlers. Additionally, she works as the GCHS Baseball PA Announcer having earned a Personal Choice Award. She is the daughter of Scott and Debbie Smallie.
