Upon the Roll Call being taken, the following members were present:

4-1 Presentation to Recognize North Chicago High School Warhawks Male and Female Track Team
The Mayor explained both, male and female, track teams of North Chicago High School Warhawks placed/won the State of Illinois Championships. City Clerk Lori Collins read both teams Proclamation.
The Mayor asked that 7th Ward Alderman Dante Brooks also proceeded forward as he was part of the North Chicago School District and was involved with the athletes. He presented the proclamation to the athletes.
Alderman Allen moved, seconded by Alderman Wray to Approve the Proclamation Recognizing the North Chicago High School Warhawks Boys Track Team

The Mayor was very appreciative of the young men and women with their accomplishments. He presented them with a monetary gift card from an unnamed business in North Chicago.

VI. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Kenneth Smith
He commended the Public Works Department and the 5th Ward Alderman Wray. His business building was vandalized on MLK Dr., he announced and explained the Special Event, June 20 and 21st Citywide Revival with local pastor’s coming together as a team.
Foss Park
Commissioner Carmecia Hawthorne – announced that several parks were vandalized and she suggested the neighborhood watch, new Angel Park was ready at 24th and Sherman Ave., she encouraged the children and adults to attend and enjoy the inflatables and listed event, 6/14/25 for the Woman Support Group from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m.

7-2 CONSIDERATION/APPROVAL OF THE REAPPOINTMENT FOR HORNSBY KNEELAND VICE CHAIRMAN TO NORTH CHICAGO HOUSING AUTHORITY INCLUDED WITH ITEM 7-1 TO TABLE
7-3 CONSIDERATION/APPROVAL OF ORDINANCE IMPLEMENTING A GROCERY RETAILER’S OCCUPATION TAX AND MUNICIPAL GROCERY SERVICE OCCUPATION TAX FOR THE CITY OF NORTH CHICAGO
Alderman Evans moved, seconded by Alderman Coleman to Approve the Ordinance Implementing a Grocery Retailer’s Occupation Tax and Municipal Grocery Service Occupation Tax for the City of North Chicago.
Chief of Staff Jackson explained that Governor Pritzker removed previous tax and $105,000 annually was for the City.

VIII. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
Alderman Brooks commented his appreciation for the acknowledgment to the athletes. It was important to recognize their achievements and advancements.
