Granite City schools announce new administrative appointments for 2025-26

As part of a recent restructuring, Granite City Community Unit School District No. 9 has announced several administrative appointments. These appointments were approved by the GCSD9 Board of Education during a Special Board Meeting on July 8, 2025.

The new roles include Patrick Curry as Executive Director of K-12 Curriculum/Professional Development, Steven Mathes as Principal of Coolidge Junior High School, and Kristen Novacich-Koberna as Assistant Principal at Coolidge Junior High School. Additionally, Nikki Petrillo will serve as Principal of Grigsby Elementary School, while Chris Hutchings takes on the role of Assistant Principal/Registrar at Granite City High School. Christie Moad will be Assistant Principal/Curriculum at Granite City High School, and Eric Mitchell will serve as Assistant Principal/Vocational Education at the same school.

"We are confident these leaders will continue to support and advance the mission of GCSD9," stated the GCSD9 Administration in their announcement.

The administration expressed their congratulations to the appointees and encouraged community members to extend their warmest welcome and full support as these individuals begin their new roles for the 2025–26 school year.
